Boston Internet Exchange

The Boston Internet Exchange is an Internet Exchange Point in Boston, Massachusetts. It is the successor of the now defunct Boston MXP started by MAI.net and Vincent Bono. Initially in 2007, Barton Bruce from Global NAPs and TowardEX Technologies had planned to replace the aging Boston MXP due to Global NAPs closing down its business. Markley Group, the owner of One Summer Street colocation facility had offered assistance and Patrick Gilmore donated bostonix.net. In 2012, TowardEX started Boston Internet Exchange under engineering contract from the Markley Group. Markley Group operates and owns the exchange. The exchange point supports IPv4 and IPv6 unicast peering, offers private virtual network interconnects and also provides remote peering capability into the switch fabric.
The Free Software Foundation was the first organization to physically connect to the ''Boston Internet Exchange''.
